Ginkgo Biloba - Maidenhair Tree

Ginkgo Biloba

The Ginkgo is a deciduous tree that can grow to 60+ ft. It is usually pyramidal in shape with grey bark and fan shaped leaves. The tree grows best in full sun. Prefers sandy, deep, moderately moist soil, and is popular in urban areas because of it's resistance to pollution, drought, heat and disease. Hardy to USDA Zone 3. Leaves fall rapidly in fall. Trees are easy to transplant and long lived. Male cultivars are fruitless and desireable for most yards because  female cultivars will eventually produce plum shaped, foul smelling and mildly toxic fruit.
